Dr. Sheila Pope has been a small business owner for 10 years. Dr. Pope has been a school principal, school counselor and special education/English teacher in Texas. She is a Psychology Adjunct Professor at Houston Community College. She has taught college freshmen English for over 20 years on the university level and community college level.
She is currently a candidate for Superintendent Certification at UT@ Arlington. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern under the supervision of Dr. Candy Ratliff. Dr. Pope has experience designing websites and blogs on different platforms. She is an Adobe Education Trainer. She edits: essays, articles, dissertations, and videos. She also creates educational videos.
Dr. Pope has taught WRIT 101 classes at Texas Southern University designed to help students pass the Texas Success Inititatives. She authored the textbook, "Writing Essentials: Strategies to Master Freshmen English and Placement Exams (ISBN: 978-1-61549-765-2). It was adopted by Texas Southern University.
Moreover, Dr. Pope successfully raised her students' English II scores 12 points in one testing year (2015-2016). Dr. Pope is a certified in the state of TX as Principal, English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) 7-12, Self-Contained 1-8 teacher, school counselor, and a certified special education teacher. She has experience as a grant writer, grant administrator, program evaluator, curriculum writer, trainer, and has strong data analysis skills. Dr.Pope loves owning a small STEM business.
